Why Do I need to Strip my Diapers?
All cloth diapers over time gain a build up of detergent. This is more prominent with diapers made with synthetic fibers like polyester. You can tell when it is time to strip you diapers when they begin to hold odor even after washing them. It is important to regularly strip you diapers at least 3 or more times a month (depending on the amount in your stash and how often you use your diapers). If you don't regularly strip your diapers the detergent build up will begin to cause your diapers to repel and leaks will happen more often, not to mention the odor!
How do I strip my diapers?
Place your CLEAN diapers in the wash. Fill the machine with HOT water and DO NOT add detergent. Let the machine agitate the diapers, you will begin to see suds in the wash even though you didn't add detergent, this is your build up.
Repeat this step several more times until there is little to not soap suds when the machine is agitating. Feel free to add some vinegar to the wash if you like.
After diapers are done washing place them in the sun. Sunning your diaper will help get rid of any stains.
